What does September mean to you?

While spring is nature’s time of renewal, September is the time of renewal for anyone involved in the academic world. It’s a time for reestablishing routine, getting back to the books, and reconnecting with friends and colleagues.

For our first year students, September probably arrived with feelings of both excitement and trepidation. For our alumni, September likely conjures up feelings of nostalgia about “the Nipissing years” and how quickly they flew by.

As we start this new academic year together, I thought it was an ideal time to launch this blog as one way to connect with all of you – our students, our alumni, our faculty, and our community partners. As Dean, I hear inspiring stories all the time about the great things our APS students, faculty and alumni are doing both on campus and in the community, so I’ve started this blog in hopes of sharing some of those stories more widely. I’ll also likely use this platform to share some of my thoughts on various issues and opportunities in the post-secondary education sector; they are changing times indeed.

I encourage you to bookmark this page and check back often to see what we’re up to. Also, if you have a story to share, please get in touch so we can collectively celebrate our APS achievements. There are sure to be many!

Oh, and one more thing – we’ve recently joined the Twitterverse in APS so be sure to follow us there too @NipissingAPS.

Wishing you a great start to the term,

Rick
